Friday (night) is for photos, August 25, 2006
Cape Coral is located on the southwest coast of Florida at the mouth of the Caloosahatchee. This evening, on a beach at the river I baptized two men in a very public service. Here is a silhouette photo of that event, taken by my daughter, Rebecca, right after the baptism. A forboding storm threatened this evening, but the Lord held it off long enough for both brothers to profess their faith publicly through believers' baptism. We sang, read Scripture, prayed and I preached a brief message from the surf to those from Grace plus some curious onlookers. Some of our folks also took the opportunity to engage folks in conversations about the Gospel. It was an encouraging evening.

Praise the Lord! He is still saviing people! I love public baptisms like that, what a testimony!

Some of my most meaningful immersion memories have been those in oceans, lakes, rivers and ponds.

The lease space where our church plant is meeting does not have baptismal capabilities. We've been wondering where to handle up.
This might be too far of a commute, but I'm thinking we could find some outdoor water in Dallas, though this current drought makes that all the more challenging.

Tom, what do you do for alligator control? Or is that a part of the testimony of faith for a Florida river baptism? :^)

Hmmmm....that's interesting. The president of a Calvinist ministry conducted a public baptism. I wonder what the SBC will think...

We consider the presence of alligators a helpful part of the new convert's gaining assurance. It also helps weed out the false professors. :-)

Looks like they just shifted the Projected Path out of the Gulf and East over Florida.
FBC got hit hard from Wilma, and just recently recovered.

As for the sermon from the surf, I hear getting in a small boat and pushing out a little from the shore helps. Then again, your crowd might not have been as big as the one spoken to by the other guy who tried it.
Maybe by the time God calls them to International Missions, the IMB will have straightened out their stuff and I can help them go with my tithe. ;)

Glad to see such a great testimony to God's grace, especially after the unfortunate quotes in the Christianity Today article.
