Conference Speakers:

 

David R. Goff, S.S. is the Pastor of Sovereign Grace Baptist Church of Edmond, Oklahoma.  He graduated from Mid-South Bible College in 1981.  He has been the Director of Reconciliation Ministries, a Biblical Counseling Ministry and Training Center, and has been a Pastor for over twenty years in Edmond, Oklahoma. 

 

Dennis Gundersen is Senior Pastor-teacher at Grace Bible Church, Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he has served since 1993.  He has pastored in the Tulsa area since 1981, and is author of the book "Your Child's Profession of Faith" (Calvary Press) and the upcoming "Courtship and Dating: So What's the Difference?"  He and his wife Naomi have been married since 1976, and have four sons.  They also own and operate Grace & Truth Books as a family business; publishing over 60 books, most of which are reprints of children's books from the 1800's.  Dennis came to faith in Christ in 1971.

 

Tony Mattia has been pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Wamego, Kansas for the past 23 years.  He received his B.A. from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri, his M.Div. and M.A.R.S. Degree from Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Kansas, and his Ph.D. from Kansas State University.  He co-authored: A Discussion of the Seventeenth Century Particular Baptist Confessions of Faith with Dr. Richard Belcher.

 

Jim Odens is the founder and president of PAGE Ministries. He has served as a pastor for about thirty years and is currently the Senior Pastor of Oakridge Community Church in Stillwater, Minnesota. He received his B.A. from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College and his M.Div. from Central Baptist Theological Seminary of Minneapolis.  The author of Lighting The Way To God, Discovering God, and Following Jesus, Jim has also had several published magazine articles. He is currently writing a book presenting a biblical understanding of the ministry of the evangelist.

 

Richard Smith is the Associational Missionary of Spurgeon Baptist Association.  Richard lives in Lawrence KS.  He has a B.A. in Philosophy from Kansas State, a M.A. in Theology from Reformed Theological Seminary.  He is married with five children and is a huge fan of Jonathan Edwards.  He has been a part of two church starts and is presently serving as an interim pastor.

What is the Southern Baptist Founders Conference?

 

The motive of the conference is to glorify God, honor His gospel, and strengthen His churches by providing encouragement to Southern Baptists in historical, Biblical, theological, practical, and ecumenical studies.

 

The purpose is to be a balanced conference in respect to doctrine and devotion expressed in the Doctrines of Grace and their experimental application to the local church, particularly in the areas of worship and witness. This is to be accomplished through engaging a variety of speakers to present formal papers, sermons, expositions, and devotions, and through the recommendation and distribution of literature consistent with the nature of the conference. 

           

The theological foundation of the conference will be the Doctrines of Grace (election, depravity, atonement, effectual calling, and perseverance) and specifically related truths. These subjects will be presented doctrinally, expositionally, homiletically, and historically. Each conference will concentrate on the experimental and pastoral application of the respective doctrines.
