Statement of Principles:

Necessity
God has re-ignited among Southern Baptists an interest in what has been historically denominated the Doctrines of Grace. Those so interested desire fellowship. The energy generated by this renewal should be conserved and guided.

Motive
The motive of the conference is to glorify God, honor His gospel, and strengthen His churches by providing encouragement to Southern Baptists through historical, biblical, theological, practical, and ecumenical studies.

Purpose
The purpose is to be a balanced conference in respect to doctrine and devotion expressed in the Doctrines of Grace and their experimental application to the local church, particularly in the areas of worship and witness. This is to be accomplished by engaging a variety of speakers to present formal papers, sermons, expositions, and devotions, and by recommending and distributing literature consistent with the nature of the conference.

Subject and Procedure
The theological foundation of the conference will be the Doctrines of Grace (election, depravity, atonement, effectual calling, and perseverance) and specifically related truths. These subjects will be presented doctrinally, expositionally, homiletically, and historically. Each conference will concentrate on the experimental and pastoral application of the respective doctrines.

Dr. Daniel Block, Professor of Old Testament, Wheaton College Graduate School, Wheaton, IL

Dr. Phil A. Newton, Senior Pastor of South Woods Baptist Church, Memphis, TN; Executive Board Member for Founders Ministries

Dr. Alan Price, Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church, Chatsworth, GA

Lodging:

 

The conference hotel for Founders Mid-South is the Hampton Suites at Southwind located 2 miles from South Woods at 3579 Hacks Cross Road.  Rate for King Suite or Standard double is $79/night + tax.  A full continental breakfast is included. Phone (901) 754-8454 for reservations before Friday, September 23^rd to guarantee room and rate.  Give reservation code MSF to receive discounted rate.

 

For those who are unable to make lodging arrangements, members of South Woods have opened their homes for individuals on a first come, first served basis.  Lodging will be free with individuals on their own for meals.  Please contact church office at (901) 758-1213 if interested.

 

 

Directions:

 

From Little Rock: Take I-40E to I-55S/US-64E in West Memphis, AR (towards Jackson , MS). After crossing river, take I-55S five miles to I-240E towards Nashville (exit 6A&B). Take I-240E eight miles to Nonconnah Pkwy/TN-385E (exit 16). Take Nonconnah PKWY/385E five miles to Winchester Rd. exit. Turn right (west) onto Winchester. Take a right (north) at the first light (Germantown Rd.). Travel north ½ mile. South Woods is on the left on the hill.

 

From Nashville: Take I-40W to Germantown Pkwy/TN-177S exit (16A towards Germantown). Stay on Germantown Pkwy into Germantown (approximately 7.5 miles). Turn right on Farmington Blvd and curve around onto West St. Stay on West St./Germantown Rd. for approximately 2 miles. South Woods is on the right on the hill. (Note: West St. changes into Germantown Rd. south of Poplar Pike in Germantown)

 

From Jackson, MS: Take I-55N toward Grenada/Memphis. In Memphis, take I-240E towards Nashville (exit 6A&B).  Go eight miles and merge onto NONCONNAH PKWY/TN-385 E via exit number 16. Take Nonconnah PKWY/385E five miles to Winchester Rd. exit. Turn right (west) onto Winchester. Take a right (north) at the first light (Germantown Rd.). Travel north ½ mile. South Woods is on the left on the hill.

 

From St. Louis: Stay on I-55S towards Memphis/Jackson, MS. After crossing river, take I-55S to I-240E towards Nashville (exit 6A&B). Take I-240E eight miles to Nonconnah Pkwy/TN-385E (exit 16). Local: South Woods Baptist Church is located at 3175 Germantown Rd. S. between Winchester Rd. and Poplar Avenue. Take NONCONNAH PKWY/TN-385 off I-240 (exit 16) east  five miles to Winchester Rd. exit.  Turn right (west) onto Winchester. Take a right (north) at the first light (Germantown Rd.). Travel north ½ mile. South Woods is on the left on the hill.  Just look for the banner!
